Planning a work Christmas party is a job in itself! Fortunately, our team at the Stoop – Harlequins rugby club’s unique Xmas venue are here to help!
Your employees and colleagues have worked hard all year and as 2018 draws to a close, you want to reward them with something to look forward to. Cue the work Christmas party. If you’re not sure where to begin, however, below are some top tips for ensuring that your party planning is a great success.
It’s unlikely that you’ll ever be able to organise an event that doesn’t clash with at least one person’s schedule but try to think about when the majority of your employees will be around. The closer to Christmas it gets, the less likely it is that people are still going to be in the office. Furthermore, chances are that, once they’re off, they’re not coming back in.
Also, ensure that people don’t have anything important going on the next day such as training, interviews or project deadlines. If your employees are willing to sacrifice a Friday night, this is a great time to have the work Christmas party because you don’t have to worry about half the office calling in sick with hangovers the next day.
One of the best ways to plan a successful party is to ask employees what they thought about last year’s party. You can send out a quick questionnaire asking questions such as:
Remember, you will never be able to please everyone but if the majority of people are in agreement, the festive spirit is likely to rub off on everyone else as well.
Your local fast-food restaurant just isn’t going to cut it for your festive celebrations. The less effort you put into organising your event, the less likely people are to make an effort to attend.
Show your employees that you value their hard work by being a bit more imaginative with your venue. If you’re really pressed for time or simply don’t have the resources to plan your event, find a venue that does all of this for you.
Here at Harlequins we host Christmas parties for companies of all sizes every year. This year our guests will be welcomed into a very festive Winter Wonderland at the Stoop. Everything from welcome drinks and delicious food to the dance floor and DJ is taken care of so you can host your event without the worry of where you’re going to find the time to plan it.
Every great party needs good food and plenty of ‘refreshments’. If you don’t have a huge budget, don’t worry so much about things like decorations or the magician you think everyone will love. If you have to focus your resources in one area, make sure it’s the catering.
